Heart of the Game

This is my first time blogging.  It is VERY different for me but I'm all for learning and doing new things.  Heart of the Game is going to be about women's basketball.  I have been playing basketball since I was in the fifth grade.  That's a very long time.  When I was younger there were so many young girls who enjoyed playing basketball.  The first team I played on was for a community center.  During my time playing for a community center I learned much needed information about the game as well as my teammates.  So I went from playing community center ball to middle school ball.  I didn't really get much play first two years, so when my 9th grade year came I got the mentality like I'm the best one on the team, I'm going to put in the most time and effort, I'm never getting off the court, and this is MY team.  I never took no for an answer and sure enough my hard work paid off, I became captain of the team.  When my coach found out how good I was she put me on the varsity team.  Being on the varsity team you have to compete against your teammates for a spot EVERYDAY, and during the game you have to compete against players on the opposite team.  When it all comes down all those girls are playing their hearts out for one reason, and that's to play for D1 College.  If they make it that far they compete to be the best in the nation and if they succeed they make it to the WNBA drafts.  When they do make it to the WNBA, many of their teams are becoming defunct and that leaves no room for the players to expand.  To me that's not fair because these women make basketball their life and for them to finally make it to the pros and there isn't any room for them on the team, and if they are already on a team the teams are folding for whatever reason, but when it comes to the NBA they have never had a team to fold.  If they can have 35 teams then why not the WNBA, but instead they have 12.  I'm just saying.
